Check out some of our accomplishments during our 2009-2010 Memebrship year!

 

 

 

  • We raised over $35,000 from our fruit sale and golf outing and put that money to work in our community.
  • We, once again, awarded five $1,500 academic scholarships to graduating seniors from our high schools
  • For Kiwanis One Day we renovated the library at the Boys and Girls Club. This high impact project on a day designated by the Mayor as Kiwanis One Day will change the lives of thousands of students in Stamford in the years to come.
  • We supported the Band Parents Associations at Stamford and Westhill High Schools with $5,800 grants to each prograsm
  • Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Kristin Sampiere we have our first Builders Club at Scofield Magnet Middle School.
  • We sent 2 HS students to Key Leader Camp and plan to send 4 more in the Spring
  • We participated in the American Diabetes Association, ARI of CT’s and the Bennett Cancer Centers walk-a-thons
  • We funded Junior First Lego League teams and Stillmeadow Elementary and KT Murphy Elementary schools and Pam Tasik coached and moderated the program at Stillmeadow, too.
  • We served as Judges for Junior Achievement and sponsored a travel prize for one of their leaders.
  • We made financial contributions to the Kiwanis Foundation of New England, Kiwanis International and Operation Tribute
  • We served monthly at the Soup Kitchen, rang the Bell and collected food for the Salvation Army, and collected over 400 books for the Boys and Girls Club in partnership with Borders & Gofer Ice Cream.
  • We helped install an outdoor playground at KT Murphy
  • We sponsored a 1st grade garden box at Stillmeadow in support of the Courtyard Renovation that was funded entirely by school parents
  • We funded and served refreshments at SPS Middle School College Forum
  • We provided funding for Stamford Youth Soccer League’s summer program which welcomes children from any economic background with open arms
  • We presented members with interesting speaker programs and fantastic opportunities for fellowship and; as we also attend New England district meetings,national Kiwanis meetings, and International meetings.
  • October 2012 Louise Cronin began the Kiwanis Smiles program which reads Dr. Seuss Tooth Book to all kindergarten children in Stamford public schools and give each child the book, and a package of dental care products.
  • We do muchmore as requestis for donations and volunteer hours are presented to our club.
